Platform Integration Engineer (m/f/d)

Essen
Full-time
Permanent employee

Your mission

E.ON Drive Infrastructure is rapidly expanding its charging network across Europe. As the number of charge points, platforms, devices, and partners grows, reliable and scalable integrations become increasingly critical to our success. As a Platform Integration Engineer, you will help build and operate the systems that connect this ecosystem and enable our continued growth.

  • Build and maintain integrations between charging infrastructure, core business platforms, and external partner systems to ensure reliable end-to-end operations
  • Design scalable, reusable integration patterns that enable efficient onboarding of new partners, markets, and technologies
  • Develop and manage REST APIs, service layers, and data models with clear, versioned standards to support a growing ecosystem
  • Leverage SQL, schema design, and Databricks to enable efficient data access, transformation, and integration across platforms
  • Own event-driven architectures and IoT data pipelines, including Kafka/Event Hubs and MQTT-based telemetry flows
  • Build, operate, and continuously improve cloud-native services on Azure using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD best practices
  • Ensure platform reliability through proactive monitoring, observability, troubleshooting, and rapid resolution of integration and cloud-service issues
  • Apply security-by-design principles, including certificate-based communication, secrets management, secure APIs, and security-focused code reviews
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to solve cross-platform integration challenges and ensure seamless device-to-cloud connectivity at scale

Your profile

  • 4+ years as a backend or integration engineer, ideally cloud-native or IoT
  • Strong hands-on Azure experience
  • Proficient in Python and Java, comfortable with Node.js/TypeScript for lightweight service layers
  • Solid event-driven architecture, with MQTT, Kafka, REST, or equivalent brokers and patterns
  • You can diagnose and resolve a failing pipeline or cloud workload without escalating
  • You think in patterns, not one-off connections. You can tell the difference between an integration that works and one that will still work at 10x, and you weigh contract design and maintainability, not only delivery
  • Builder mentality: you enjoy taking ownership, figuring things out, and turning ideas into scalable solutions. You are comfortable with change, embrace new challenges, and proactively identify opportunities to improve platforms, integrations, and processes
